CASE STUDY > KEEP ‘EM COMING!
The Fairfield Museum and History Center’s Keep ‘Em Coming! World War II Poster Art Exhibit

Jargon Boy’s Greg Chinn worked with Fairfield Museum Director of Operations Laura Roberts to create a brand identity for the new exihibit Keep ‘Em Coming! World War II Poster Art. A logotype was created to brand the exhibit, with a postcard teaser, flyer and a poster to promote/inform potential show observers. There will be select American propaganda posters accompanied with the background themes behind them and a reading of wartime correspondence between the home front and front lines from the museum’s library collection.

Original 1940s posters that mobilized a nation, making victory the personal mission of every citizen. Powerful graphic designs by some of the country’s leading commercial artists feature a variety of themes that linked the military front with the home front. Americans were called upon to enlist, join the production line, conserve wartime resources, and use caution when talking near strangers. Jargon Boy used a visual language of diagonal typography, directional arrows and heavy rules that recalls Russian Constructivist propaganda posters of the 1920’s which would be a heavy influence on American design in the late 1930-40s. With a modern color palette of brights and neutrals mixed with the new visual language, the Keep ‘Em Coming brand identity was fresh, which generated lots of excitement for the WWII poster art show as well as the Fairfield Museum and History Center.
