CASE STUDY > OLD SCHOOL TRADITION WITH VINTAGE MODERN APPEAL
Mid-century modern styled posters of historic Connecticut
icons created exclusively for The Fairfield Museum And History Center.

Jargon Boy’s Greg Chinn approached The Fairfield Museum and History Center with a vintage-modern take on local classics, to be featured in a set of six posters. The result of the collaboration is a successful reimagining of Fairfield County classics, now with a fun and funkier air.

The mission of the museum is to collect, preserve, and interpret the history of Fairfield, Connecticut and surrounding regions for present and future generations. Jargon Boy Design Studio, run by Greg Chinn created these 7” x 11” vintage-modern posters that blend the historic nature of the museum with a mid-century modernist sensibility that speaks to a more visually informed consumer. For inspiration, American design pioneer Lester Beall and his Rural Electrification poster series was channeled, who had lived in Brookfield, Connecticut. A logo was specifically created to further brand the historic poster series and its relationship to the 104-year-old organization. A custom envelope label and a authenticity stamp which is printed on the back of each poster was also created for the 6 set series. The Bronson Windmill and Penfield Reef posters were featured in the magazine, Graphic Design USA. The article focused on design make-overs by Creative Director Greg Chinn of historic landmarks in Fairfield County.
